efi help needed
I have an 89 f 450 efi 460 5speed doner truck for my 72 crewcab. I have the complete wiring harness from inside the cab of the truck draped over the driver side fender and all of the rest of the harnesses in the truck fully un wraped and easily acsessable. I made sure the truck still runs like this, kind of like a running test stand, just to make sure I didnt mess anything up from removing the harness from the cab and hooking it back up in the engine compartment. the help I need now is finding out which wires I need to trace down to run the engine in my 72'. I know I need the fuel pump relays and fuel system, but I dont have a diagram to tell me what color wire runs what and not to be stupid but I really dont know what I have to keep and what I can get rid of , I found the map sensor, I know what the o2 sensor looks like, and Im keeping the starter silonoid with the harness, but what else do I need to know??? where would I find a good wire diagram for this stuff??? I think Im keeping it speed density for now and working all the bugs out, plus getting an efi education, but I think later I will change over to mass air flow so I can do more modifications
any help would be appreciated........thanks guys!!!!!

I can get it for you tonight probably. I am doing the same with my 86. I have the 90 EVTM, or I can pull it off AllData for you. The only differences I have come across are some different pin locations in the multi-pin engine to body harness and the earlier systems use an orange ground wire for the O2 sensor that attaches on the rear right corner of the intake. I will ultimately be going to MAF and SEFI on mine.

thanks alot!!! that would be a huge help, I think it will go pretty smoothly, its just a little time consuming. my 72 crewcab highboy should run alot better with the efi 460 and the 5 speed than it currently does with a 300 6cyl and automatic. I cant belive they would put such a small engine in such a big truck. the mass air / SEFI is definately in the future but I just want to get it back on the road for now. thanks again!!!

Ok jonbar, I went to the site and it really doesn't give me any information about their system. One of my issues is the need to control an E4OD. Most aftermarket systems will not do that, adding to the cost of an SEFI conversion. I did register, but am still awaiting the activation email. What can you tell me about their setup?

Oh ok. What it is is just an idea I had to convert mine over to SEFI, so I made a thread of what I did there. As for your automatic transmission, AEM is fully capable of controlling that as well. Download the software and play around with it...it's pretty nice stuff. http://forum.aempower.com/forum/inde...c,26751.0.html
Here is what I said in the thread:
Soo, I've got a 97 F-350 with a 7.5L 460 and am really wanting to use an AEM 30-1400 ECU on it since Ford uses bank to bank EFI and not SEFI with this particular setup....I just think it's ridiculous that all 4 injectors fire when only one needs to fire. (Bank 1 and Bank 2 EFI system) I've done a lot of homework and have figured out that ALL the pins on the 30-1400 AEM ECU match up to Ford's pins except I'll have to add 8 individual injector wire inputs into the F-350 wiring harnes to achieve SEFI, but that is no big deal because there are already open spaces in Ford's plug since the California 97 F-350 was required to have SEFI due to emissions. Anyway, what I'm concerned about is the firing order. AEM's firing order on the 30-1400 ECU is 13726548 (94-95 5.0 Mustang) but Ford's 7.5L is 15426378. At first I thought no big deal, I'll just swap injector plugs. But, can I do that? Or, can I just change the firing order in the AEM ECU? If not, would I also need to swap the cam shaft? Or can I just swap injector wires 3&7 and 5&4 and call it good...? This is the final step I need to know before pulling the trigger on buying an injector harness and an AEM ECU and just want to be SURE before I do so, so any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks
I'm using the following sensors:
MAP - AS1 (same as 93 - 95 lightning)
Injectors - FJ10109 (24#, blue, same as 93 - 94 cobra)
TPS - TH157T (same as 96 - 04 gt and cobra)
Iac valve - Stock F-350. Part number AC55
Distributor ignition pickup - (same as 93 - 95 lightning and 94 cobra)
Wideband - AEM 30-4100
Here is everything you'll need:
AEM 30-1400 ECU - eBay for $750
any stock honda map sensor and about a foot of it's wiring w/ the 3 pin plug (GM MAP would work too) - junk yard -- $5....if that??
Any EEC-IV stock Ford wiring harness - $50 from the junkyard
Homemade injector harness - FREE

Efi help needed
Ok, thanks. Unfortunately, I have gone far enough with mine that it is no longer cost effective. I have already built my injector harness from an extra 460 bank fired SD system and a 1995 Bronco 5.0L SEFI, MAF harness and some stuff from an unknown year 4.6L harness. I also got with the Bronce stuff a WAY1 tear tag EEC-IV ECM to reprogram for the 460. This ECM has the E4OD circuits. 460s have 24lb injectors originally, I have an MAF from a 1995 Lincoln Continental 4.6L DOHC which is the same as the CA 460. I have started building two different front harnesses, one to use the SD EFI ECM and the other for the MAF SEFI ECM so the change will be plug and play.

Ok, bill it is on my website, downloads link is on left side. Look for "New this week" it will have a red ball beside them. There are eight pages, or one big file with all eight in one. Use whichever is easier for you connection speed.
