I FINALLY GOT TO SEE IT IN PERSON OVER THE WEEKEND!!!!!
Been out here for over a year and a half....didnt know what I have been missing.....
Twin Falls was also on our stops this weekend.....WE HAD A BLAST!!!!!
That's awesome Tammie! It is a very impressive structure. We went to Bridge Day in 2000 and got to walk on it and such. Pretty neat but the crowd was nuts. We had to walk a few miles just to get to it.
Were they letting people walk on the catwalk under the bridge yet?
The last word I heard was that they still needed to build whatever its going to be to get people up to the catwalk. I saw a youtube video where they just had a long ladder to get up there. I guess they're going to build something a little better for regular access.
This is near the top of my list whenever it becomes available!
If you ever have the opportunity to see the film on the making of the New River Gorge Bridge do so. It is an amazing film documenting the engineering & construction. Bill Ritchie who was DOH commissioner at the time showed it to our Scout Troop years ago. I think he got it from the DOH somewhere. I am sure it is out there somewhere on video. It is very interesting. I was at the bridge just before the last piece in the arch was put in.
