1955 f100 Banner Blue
Im looking to buy some paint for my 1955 f100 engine, its a straight six, 223.
My question is, the website i've choosen to buy from, www.eastwood.com, doesn't just say Banner Blue, it say "Old Ford Blue". Are these the same colors?

NO!
Banner Blue is a distinct Ford Body paint color - PPG paint code 11232 and it is quite dark - almost Navy Blue. See the paint chart below:
"Medium Ford Blue" is a plain blue color used on engines after 1965 and is substantially lighter.
Here's a picture of my engine correctly painted "Medium Ford Blue"
Quite a difference. Also, "Ford Blue" engine color paint is quite varied color wise from vendor to vendor.
I beloeve the correct color for your engine is Green. Krylon 007 is the color most sites say is the correct color.

Yellow Transmission!???!!!! YIKES!
I must correct my earlier post. I did some very deep digging for you and found this quote from "rogerf100":
"I have a color brochure from 1955 for Ford trucks with pics of the 223 6 cyl, 239 OHV V8, 256 OHV V8, 279 OHV V8 and 317 OHV V8 engines. The 223, 239, and 256 have yellow blocks with argent silver valve covers, black air cleaners, fan, pulleys, gen, starter, and exhaust manifolds including the cross over pipe. The 279 and 317 have red blocks with argent silver valve covers and the rams head exhaust manifolds are black as are the rest of the parts as listed for the smaller V8s. I will see if I can scan the pics into my computer. This is only for 1955 model trucks. There is also a chart that covers the F series conventional line, the C series Cab Forward line, The T series Tandem axle line, The B series School Bus, and the P series Parcel Delivery. The chart shows available engine and transmissions for 1955 Ford trucks.
Hope this helps at least for 1955."
So, actually that blue that I said was really green is actually yellow.
See, now your transmission and engine will match!
Engine paint colors are very poorly documented and very debatable based on regular truck engines, big truck engines, car engines, year....... - all were different colors

On the engine?
It's the "Ford Blue" engine color. It was used during the 60s and 70s (til '81 I think but could be wrong) It's Dupli-Color "Ford Blue DE1601"
The "Old Ford Blue" you spoke of is "Dupli-color" engine enamel, "Old Ford Blue DE1621"
There is also I "Dark Ford Blue" engine color - Dupli-color "Dark Ford Blue DE1606" (my transmissionis painted this color)
PS Maybe you could paint your engine with the lighter "Ford Blue" And the transmission with the darker "Old Ford Blue" or "Dark Ford Blue."
Here's the Dupli Color Engine paint chart:

I was planning on keeping the tranmission Yellow, also doing the motor mounts, fan pulley wheel, crank shaft pulley wheel, and alternator pulley wheel Yellow. Painting the block the Ford Blue.
The only thing im not sure about is what to do with the intake. Paint it, chrome it, leave it alone....
Thanks for all the help you've been.

All Ford Truck engines in 1954 were red. So perhaps your tranny was replaced at one time, it should have been red...

Red with Argent covers was correct for 54. Here's a long debate about it if you want to read about it. As you can see, lots of variance.
