Upgrade sound system

Hi, I have a 2007 ford edge sell plus, I wanted to know if I can replace the stock amp with a aftermarket amp, and also replacing the stock 8 inch sub woofer with a after market one. If anybody has any knowledge of this situation I would really appriciate the feed back.
