lower rear shock mounts

Was 4x4ing on some 2-tracks and noticed that the rear shock mounts were draging in the mud. Has anybody tried to move the mounts higher or have any ideas on the best way to do this?
I have seen Dodge truck shock mounts up tight on the axles why doesn't Ford do this?
thanks,

You will wanna keep the shocks in front of the axle tube, Its helps axle hop.

Just get some mounts and move them from under the axle onto the front.
