1950 F1 - Paint Job?

The truck was pulled from a field. It used to be a service station truck and has a faded and paint-sanded finish. You can see the "Mobil" insignias on the doors and tailgate. It has old moss growth hardened on the hood.
I know I need to repair the rusted out areas, but I'd like to keep the cool "patina" (albeit a bit extreme). Would it be possible to just seal the whole exterior in a clear sealer?

Yes you can put a clear coat over the paint but you will need to clean all the gunk off it first or it will not stick .
I would suggest using a fine sand paper say 1000 grit over the entire old finish then wash it with a soap and water combo , let it dry real good and then spray the clear on .
Mke sure you get a clear that is made for the older paints so you won't have any weird chemical reactions but it really shouldn't be a problem .
