I might swap injector solenoid from #2 to another see if the miss follows .. If the wiring is in fact good & the miss stays with #2 it most likely is in the injector itself ..

Replacing one injector would get you by for a little while, but then the rest will wear out later on.

If all of the wiring is good (did you check the outside connector that goes into the VC?) then I would suggest sending them in to Jim at Rosewood Diesel to have him look through them and rebuild them for you. He's very affordable and does great work. I did the DIY Stage I's in mine and they ended up being more worn than I had thought, so I sent them in to Jim and he went through them for me himself. I couldn't be happier with his service, support, and his work.

145k isn't too bad for stock injectors, but most (not all) need work by 200k. If you catch some problems early you'll get a lot more life out of them.

Or switch the harnesses under the valve cover and see if it moves to the other injector.
That way you dont have to take the injector solenoid off.

Yep, that'll work. I know guys who do that but use a laser temp gun.

You're welcome. Glad to help. I just got my injectors back in this weekend. Jim did a great job on them and got them back to me very quickly. It runs like a brand new truck now, only BETTER!

I was able to get another used AA injector, and am thinking I would like to try it. Anyone now the process for changing one injector? I am especially concerned about the hydro- locking and removing the oil. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Remove the vc, gasket and all wiring.
Remove the alum spout and lower hold-down bolt.
Have new injector oiled up and ready to go.
Have rubber mallet or deadblow within reach.
Pry up on the hold-down and pop the old injector out and quickly drop new one in and give it a good whap with the dead blow to seat it, just stay away from the clip. Pound it in till you hear the distinct CLINK. Should be very little fluids into the cylinder this way.
If you take 10 or 20 seconds to fumble around once the injector is out, just stop and wait for all the oil and fuel to drain and vac the chamber. Otherwise if you act quick, like within a few seconds you're fine.

Jim, thanks for the reply on changing one injector, it worked perfectly.
Got the other injector installed and fired right up, but still has the miss. I checked the manifold with a laser temp gauge and #2 was a lower temp than the other three. I suppose I could have got a hold a bad used injector to try.
Don't know what to do now, I can switch under-valve cover harnesses to verify the harness isn't the problem. Could also switch injector #2 & #3 and see what happens. Any other suggestions anyone?

I have changed back to original injector. Still have the miss or "shakes" engine starts fine but is low on power and has the shakes. I guess I'll have to do the compression test, and see whats going on there. I bought a compression test kit for diesels at Harbor Freight, it said on the box that it was good for Ford Diesels, but on the very limited instructions that were inside it said Ford Diesels up to 1994. Can someone please tell me the process for checking compression?

I believe you need to remove the gps to do the compression test. I read that somewhere on here awhile back. I think I have an injector going bad also just I think mine is o ring related cuz I have white smoke ALL the time.
