misunderstanding of 427 FE
Yes a 427 was made for racing, but with aftermarket parts you can lower the compression ratio, go mild on the cam, and top the engine with a mild intake and 600 to 750 cfm carb, and have a nice tame street engine.
Would I do that... NO....
Our 427 MR will be built to the hilt.

I made the post on another thread about the 427 FE being a race engine. I was referring
to the original 1960s 427s. I was around then and remember alot about them and that is
how it was then. Same thing with the 426 Chrysler Hemi. With new technology available
now it is possible to build these engines with tamer manners and good performance. To
buy a genuine FE 427 now is usually an expensive proposition even if using an aftermarket block, heads, etc. An equally good steet engine can be built much cheaper
with a 428 or 460 type engine. That is all I was referring to.

Hey Lloyd.... So your going to build my 427 block are ya ?? LOL... Or is all I get is the block when done... I went and looked at a set of C1AE heads last night that were ported..for the CJ build..Now I know why the price was right....$600 set-up for a roller cam, 2.090" and 1.720" valves.. they looked like they were ported with a wood chisel..

I have been toying with the idea of building the 427. I had a bout with the heart a week or two ago, and ended up in the ER. Soooo I am thinking about building the 427, and using BT heads. I have a cherry "new" set of 2.25 titanium valves that are just sitting in the box waiting to be used. I am debating on using the 427 crank or going with a 4.25 stroker. I don't have anything to put it into yet, but it would be a fun build. My friend,,, life is so short,,, we have to enjoy every moment. My number one enjoyment is building FE race engines. Wellllll maybe #2 enjoyment.... LOL...
This way,,, if I croak, you get a whole engine, built right, and mega power.

Ya know, I was a small block guy most of my life, building small block (289 K code) motors for almost 40 years, but I have to say............since I moved into FE motors (just recently) there's a new fire brewing, seems I've been missing alot of fun + power and it's dam addicting!! Feels like I've been reborn!!

Damn Lloyd..I know were friends and all ..but thats alot of motor just to will to someone...Hell if ya need something to put it in..I can always trailer out the 70 F250 behind the 4x4..and we can drop it in.... I think Glenn (FFR428) is going to try and make the trip with me..So we can share some driving duties and also thats a lonely drive alone just having to talk to yourself..So we have that on the docket..Now just a matter of saving up some Jingle... But it damn sure would be great to hook up with you and Carl..we'll bring Glenn in Tow..LOL..and see if we cant meet at a track with Brian and kenny and watch Brians TA Digger also..and Put some time on your wrinkle walls..

First time for me for a heart related problem. Old age does have it's drawbacks. I want to focus on the Falcon this fall, to get it going as quick as it can, and this winter, start looking into the 427/482 buildup.
I hope you guys can come out this way, and we can have fun at the dragstrip.

Yeah I had the Fiat Tupolino with a BB in it and it was a real kick in the pants to drive..was a hand full until one of the big boys gave us the ticket on setting up the drop tube axle..then you could drive it one handed and drink a beer with the other one... I'd love to have an old Bantom...I have loved those since I was a kid..
