TICKING NOISE

My 2008 F-150 w/ 5.4 makes a ticking noise on the right side when it is started up cold. Sounds like an exhaust leak but goes away after warm up. Could it be a cracked exhaust manifold? Is this common?

a 5.4 seems to always sound like it is about to fall apart, wish ford would fix this.

OHC motors almost always make more noise than OHVs especially if you have chain driven cams.
