anyone looking for a 5 speed swap??
I was wondering if anyone out there was looking to do a 5 speed swap into their auto truck. I found a 97 250 with a supposed bad engine, gotta call the guy tonite. It's got a new solid flywheel and clutch(don't know what brand yet) with just 500 miles on it (what ad says anyway) and rebuilt transfer case 2 years ago. Was thinking of buying the truck but don't really need the 5 speed. I'm an auto guy. I'll get a stong auto when the time comes. I don't know what's wrong with the engine yet, gotta talk to him and check it out.
Maybe someone wants to trade their auto for the 5 speed and parts to make it work? Maybe someone just wants to buy the 5 speed and related parts? Thought I'd throw it out there anyway. I'm not real close to anybody on here but you never know.
The trucks listed for 1000 bucks obo, so fairly decent deal. I don't know if I will buy it if nobody wants the 5 speed, not sure if I can justify it then. The body is fairly dented up too I guess. Let me know if anybody would be interested in the swap at a decent price.
I've got a shop to help with the swap if needed too. I would pull everything out of the truck needed and you could come here and get it or stay a weekend and put it in. I'm no clutch expert but I just put my first clutch in my dad's front wheel drive 94 tempo last week and that really sucks. NO ROOM at all. I don't know how it worked, throwout bearing was in 3 pieces and ball bearings from it everywhere but where they were supposed to be. At least there is more room to work on a truck!

Sounds like you have a plan Evan. I really don't NEED the truck, but if I can help a fellow fte member out, get a little money back or a spare auto in exchange, and have a parts truck (maybe engine isn't as bad as the guy thinks) I could grab it. Just a thought I had when I saw it advertised this morning.
