Wiring Help - 55 F100
So I'm getting ready to start working on the wiring and getting things in place for my new harness. The engine I've used is a 351W, out of an 1986 F150, I basiclly pulled everything, wires etc. I think I have the ignition down, lots of doc on typical wiring for the DuraSpark. I don't however have anything for the alternator. SEveral wires coming off the alt, that I'm not clear where they go. Any one have any doc on wiring up the alt? The one I have has a built in voltage regulator. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Well it's tough to say. Because it's not just a matter of hooking up the alternator. That will differ with how you distribute power in your truck. Also, I'm not sure why there are lots of wires if it has an internal regulator.
2nd best suggestion I would have is to do an internet search or buy a book that has the 86 F-150 wiring diagram in it and follow that.
Best suggestion I would have is to call "Tuff Stuff" and order a true 100 amp "one wire" alternator for your engine (for $130) and forget about the mess the one you have is going to cause you.
This one has one wire....runs from the stud on the back of the alternator direct to the starter solenoid (where yor positive battery cable attaches). That's it!
