Thank you. I taped on the solenoid and cleaned with gum out. Alowed to dry. Still the $wheel low works but 4 wheel high doaesnt. May flash for a second. Could it still be the solenoid?
I just replaced mine, tried cleaning and lube prior, didnt work. Mine was swollen and looked as though it had gotten some water in it and had froze... there is an updated version that comes with a splash guard is only $29.00 from dealer, the updated part is 1/2 the price of the original and make sure you have the parts guy get the right one, they can get both. not sure if this will fix your problem as this solenoid only engages the front drive but maybe...
MNPete. Thats to funny. I saw the same thing on the bottom of my solenoid. Like you said. Maybe moisture got in there and frooze. Is the new part only available through Ford? Would you know the mod part number? Thanks
P/N 6L3Z-9E441-A Desc. Valve A 258740 was 28.77 from dealer comes with rain guard supose to keep water from running into it... I believe and also for the price is the only place to get... If 4wd low works but 4wd doesn't, I think you're barking up the wrong tree with the IWE solonoid. Have you proven for a fact that the 4wd doesn't work or are you just going by the lamp indicator. Block up the rear wheels so they are just off the ground, put it in 4wd giving a few seconds to engage and see if you can drive off the blocks.
