U code front springs

Yes you can. It would raise your front-end right around and inch-and-a-third, maybe a tad more, depending on how worn your original springs are.
That would most likely bring you to almost perfectly level front to back. There is a chance it might make the front-end just a hair higher. It all depends on how worn your back springs are.

I have an '00 Excursion and had an interesting thing happen recently. I broke the primary leaf spring on the front passenger side under heavy braking. I mean it cracked like it was cut with a Sawzall!!!! Reason why I noticed this post was, after replacing the front spring pair on both sides, my Excursion rides about 4" to 6" higher in the front. Sort of reminds me of the Pro Stock cars of the mid 60's. I even had to have the headlights realigned because of the increased height.
The mechanic says they may relax a bit after several months of use. Has anyone else experienced this??? Do they, in fact, eventually relax??? BTW the original springs were made in Mexico, the new ones have a big tag on them that says "Made in USA".

U code front springs
The EX measures 2 inches lower in the front and there is only about 1/2 inch of clearance from the new 03 style bump stop to the spring.I guess that means they are pretty weak? The springs that I was looking at were on a 03 f250 for 3 years before a lift kit was installed and the pair is only $50.00 is it worth a try? thanks JIMBOEX

I have heard of a few installs where a V code was used on the left side and a U on the right to keep things level up front; I never saw the imbalance or necessity on my 2000; it's possible I may have seen it had I kept the truck long enough to see the new springs settle. Unfortunately, that Ex went bye-bye due to job loss, so I never knew.
I am considering the U and V spring option with the 02 we presently own.
