I think my turbo spools too much...

Last week I went to pass some little sedan on the highway, took the truck up to maybe 70 mph and my ats turbo started screaming. I popped the hood and saw that the intake hose had come off so I figured it was just whining that much cause it was all the way open but I clamped it back on and if I go over 50 mph I can't hear myself think. Also I never really noticed my turbo as loud before and I would much rather listen to my engine. Is this like really bad or just kinda bad? How soon do I have to throw $20 bills at my turbo? I haven't opened it up yet cause I haven't had time and don't really know what to look for. Lemme know what you think guys.

Pop the intake off and see how much play you have in the bearings. Did the wheel hit the housing?

What kind of "screaming" is this? Is it kind of a shrieking/whistling sound when you hit a certain boost level?

Do you have any idea how much boost you are running?

Is the turbo downpipe still in the turbo outlet flange?

Sounds to me like you have either a boost or exhaust leak somewhere close to the turbo.

Sorry I missed this until now, but it could be a leak where the turbo bolts to the up-pipe flange. Had a similar leak on my thunderbird and it made the same noise, really annoying.
