Question 38 gal Extra Capacity rear fuel tank

I'm just curious to see if anyone has a picture of this tank mounted without the bed on the frame. I got a tank from work out of a new Ford E van chassis. The top half fit in the location but the bottom hangs down kinda low. I will get a picture tonight to show. Just wanted to get a idea of how far the extra cap tanks hangs down.

Thanks

Let's see a pic!

Logic tells me if it's twice the capacity then its gotta be twice as deep given the same horizontal space and it can't fit if its' taller.

highoctane74 That's a good enough shot for me. I ran out to the garage and snapped some pics. Looks like the tank I have will be 7 to 8 inches below th bottom of the frame. I'll post the pics in a min.

That looks about right. Just make sure you can get your filler and breather hoses over the frame without pinching them too much.

I did the 38 gal tank in my 95 F350 CC DI 2yrs ago and love it. Now I'm doing it to my 76 F350 CC. BTW the Bronco 33 gal tank is deeper and come on 33 or 38 for the same $ new..

yeah, but someone offered me this one as a partial trade on some stuff I had so I took it. Its slightly shorter front to rear as well. For the low price of free I'm sure I'll find a way to make it work. I think if I just use the extended straps for the 38 gallon gallon tank it will fit, if not I may need to move the crossmember back a bit.

It sure would be nice to drive my truck more than 100 miles on a tank. Where do you guys with the 33 & 38 gallons tanks put your spare tire? I have a 33 inch spare tire in my stock location below the fuel tank, was there when I bought the truck. I have had it out but put it back.

I'm attempting on making this 40 gal work we will see how it go's! I will have to put the spare in the bed.

I've got 44's so there's no fitting a spare under the truck. I don't have a spare anyway.
depending on how the bronco tank goes I'll prolly put another one of those or the 38 gallon truck tank in my flatbed, and it doesn't have a spare either, but I may mount one on the headache rack or something.
