Hey new ford owner here can anyone help???.....I have a 2004 f150 fx4 flairside 5.4l Inside instrument panel where digital odometer is located suppose to have a compass reading...mine just has dashes through it is there a way to reset this or is it non-repairable?

 

I drove in circles in an empty church parking lot to set my compass. It was set to Kansas City and I changed that and then set the compass using the instructions in the owners manual.

copied from 2004 f150 owners manual:

Compass calibration adjustment
Perform this adjustment in an open area free from steel structures and
high voltage lines. For optimum calibration, turn off all electrical
accessories (heater/air conditioning, wipers, etc.) and make sure all
vehicle doors are shut.
1. Start the vehicle.
2. To enter the compass calibration
mode, press and hold the button for
greater than eight seconds. The
display will then show CAL in the
display window.
3. Drive the vehicle slowly (less than 3 mph [5 km/h]) in circles until
CAL indicator turns off. As many as 5 complete circles may be required.
4. The compass is now calibrated.

 

I have read my owners manual for vehicle and just got off the phone with ford cust svc rep I have no info button??? What do you press and hold in?...there is suppose to be a 3 button panel on dash with one being info option I dont see it???....
