Hey does anyone know if Mercury trucks ever made thier own interoir parts or did they just always use Fords. I have located a 68 Merc Ranger body that is in better shape than the Ford that I am looking at. But it has all Ford name tags inside. They are all Merc except for the Ranger emblem on the box. Interesting note on the Merc it has a overdrive off of the 4spd trainny thats being run by a 390. its there but it apparently doesn't work. Ohwell

I have one but its a earlier model. I have a 1952 Mercury 1-ton
4 door pickup. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!

 

The mercs had unique interior parts like horn buttons and radio blockoff plates up to the early fifties only as far as I've seen. After that up to 68, they used exterior nameplates only. The only gauranteed way to tell an original 67-8 would be the build sheet (rarely found) but sometimes found under or behind the seat. Other than that, the dso code on the bottom right corner of the door tag is a clue. If it has an A1-7 code in that position, that indicates it went to a Canadian Lincoln/Mercury dealer, which, before late spring of 68 would indicate a Mercury truck. I have found, however, a few mercs that have a B (Ford) dealer code, too. If anyone out there has an original merc with the build sheet intact, please contact me.

Mercury trucks were only made in Canada 1946-1968 . If it has a A1-7 its a Ford

 

You might wanna take another look at the shop manual info. 'B' was Ford dealer, 'A' was Lincoln/Merc dealer.
