Stock lift in F-350's

I have a 97 F-350 with the stock lift, and I wanna put in another 3 on top of it. What would I have to do to keep the lift it has now, and just add 3".

I figured, add a leafs and blocks? But I just want the cheapest way possible for now, even body lift.

what do you mean stock lift? stock hieght? if so just get a 3"lift they measure above stock height,

i would shy away from both add-a-leafs and blocks, add-a-leafs will make the truck ride so stiff you may as well weld the axle to the frame. these trucks already have alot of block lift and adding that additional will be to much unless you run trac bars.

a body lift is cheap and plausible. plus sides are it take less lift to fit same size tires. its cheap and fairly easy to do. they do show alot more frame though, they add leverage between body and frame, some people say they are unsafe, but i am not one of those. combo between body and suspenion is dangerous. but a body alone if made for your vehicle is safe.

People have said that these trucks have stock lifts, but whatever. That doesn't matter...

So body lift is safe? if I do like 3"? that's all I want to do

they have kits around 120$ is the truck a diesel? that may bring up some issues
what size tires are you planning on running?

I've had 35's on it but it rubs pretty badly and it ruined my tie rod ends. So I figured if I lifted it I could run either 35's or 36's again. I'm hoping to have it be able to compete in mud bogs next year, but nothing extreme.

as far as rubbing on tie rod ends the lift wont help there, some wheel spacer, off set rims or narrower tires are all that will help there. i have 33/12.5's on my truck, how wide are those 35's? do they happen to be 35/15 boggers? and out of curiosity what bogs? claremont, cheshire, vermonster?

They were size 315/75/16. But if I don't lift it now, I'm gonna run 33x12.5 myself.

What kind of tire do you like best for mud? I really wanna try the Yokohama Geolander MT.

But anyways, Cheshire for now... how I do there will determine if I go anywhere else.

well im not much of a bogger myself but my brother is/was, and he loves his IROKs but before it was TSL's.
but im looking at putting LTB's on my 150.

those geolanders look pretty good, like a baja claw, but i dont know anyone who has run them. the ratings look good though. if they perform like the claw they will do great, i know a few people who ran baja claws and they loved them.

cheshires not bad bog, went to it once or twice, im from southern NH.

This will be the first time I've thought about bogging. Haha. I'm more of the kind of guy to just go out in the woods.

Yeah, they have a good review so I figured why not.

I watch the bog every year, I live only 3 miles from it haha. Works out for me.

Oh btw, I just realized my truck is the same as yours just a 97. Haha. Don't you just hate the gas mileage on the 460?

and yes i hate the fuel mileage to top it off, i have some issues im sorting out now on it. so i get if im lucky 5mpg, down hill with the wind to my back.
have you cut your intake restrictors/silencers out yet? or maybe your truck doesn't have them, i just recently cut them out, and cleaned my TB and it performs a helluva lot better now. before my 5.0 performed better but now i love that 460.

I agree completely!
You'll need a kidney replacement after 4 miles with add-a-leafs.
Body lift is your cheapest way out.

im not very mechanically inclined. im just barely learning about motors, etc. im more of a body work guy. what are the intake restrictors/silencers?

I also have a gas leak myself, which is helping me get like 7-8mpg. :\

heres a pic of them after i cut them off, but if you have two intake tubes coming out of your air box follow them to the plastic thing, that is your restrictor, if you remove it and cut thw horns with a hack saw then you removed it

two things on the ground are the "horns"
