Ford One Wire Alternator? 1959 w/292
Gentlemen- I currently have a GM one-wire alternator, want to know a couple things: a)Did Ford make a similar 1-wire alt.? b.)If so,which year, make and model should I specify to get the correct part?
I really want to change this for only one reason.I bought a nice polished stainless alternator mount so I could do away with the one I put together when I switched from the stock generator. It is functional, but rather pedestrian looking.Apparently, the bolt spread is wider on the Ford vs. Gm alternators,so I can't use the mount.
I would also consider a standard Ford alternator,if necessary, that would allow me to have a functioning idiot light again.Any help?Steve.

Ross,I do already have a Gm 1-wire installed. In fact,it's a 100 amp, nice looking one from Summit. It just won't work with the fancy stainless Y-Block-specific alternator mount I bought when I had the new motor installed.I'm trying to clean up the engine compartment a bit.
Havi, thanks ,I'll check out the link.
