Fuel Filter n00b - Requesting Procedures

I have ordered my Fuel Filters and I'm ready to change my fuel filter for
the first time ever. After getting a bill for the last filter change, I nearly
fell over dead. So I MUST learn to do this myself.

Could somebody post the Steps 1-10 that need to be followed on
changing the fuel filters on a 2008 6.4L F-250?

Thanks,

Thanks. I got the large 36mm socket, but I see reports of people needing
a swivel to deal with the cap under the rail. So I'm going to pop into sears
and pick up one for the 36mm socket.

Thanks.... I actually just finished changing my oil and in the process
drained the water/fuel separator. I estimate I got about 500ml of water/fuel
mix out of it. In any case, thanks for the tip on draining the fuel/water first
and then unscrewing the cap.

Once I finish, I'll just be sure to keep my fingers crossed when I go to
start up the truck.

save reciept for filters, write down miles/hours on it and tuck it away.

You can also join here:https://www.flmowner.com/servlet/Con.../Page/HomePage

You can log in all your maintance, dealer will do the same.

Easy way to track/prove if you are traveling and have an issue.

follow the procedure and you will have no trouble.. I didn't see that the first time and figured I was screwed... but taking a little more time and it fired right up..

key on, wait 10 seconds, key off... 5 times..

and if you open the gas cap (yeh yeh, diesel) it will help with drain too.

Also, truck must be level, if on a hill the frame filter will not drain and you will get a bath.

Hi,

About the 1st step in the procedure - dewatering the fuel filter in the frame. I found a what looks like a short thin lever on the filter base - the manual seem to say it should be pulled but that did not work and I'm afraid to use force. It seem to be stuck or could I be doing it wrong? Maybe WD40 is the solution. Here we pay 77 USD for the OEM filter by the way.

Cheers

The frame rail mounted filter has a yellow handle. It should turn fairly easy. If it won't turn then you may have it pretty dirty in there.

To prevent it from breaking, you may have to just unscrew the cap slowly and unfortunatly, let the fuel seap out that way.

Then take the filter out, clean the module and figure out why the yellow handle will not turn.

BTW we are taking about the 6.4 correct?

I didn't mean to highjack someone else's thread, sorry.

Yes it's 6.4 engine 2008 model.
I could not immideataly see anything yellow last time I looked but I'll have another look. If I still can't find it I'll take a photo. My model is made for outside USA market but I wouldn't think the fuel filters would be different.

I found this picture online. This is what it looks like.. You should see this directly under the driver side door
on the inside of the frame rail.

That's pretty clear. Time to crawl under the truck and have another look.
Thanks
