I gotta say, I love how you took a scrap cab and redoing it. Most people would have just looked for a different cab. Yours is really turning out nice. I'm curious to see how your fuel tank setup turns out. I originally was thinking that route, but ended up going a different more expensive one. Keep taking great pictures.

Finished priming bed today(painter actually let me do it). Primed, seam sealed and yes, there is an actual color other than rust, black or grey on a body panel. yeeehhaaaa.Chompin at the bit now.
Now I can get the bed out of the barn and into the garage. Frame will come in finally and I can get to finishing brake lines, fuel cell and then get the cab on and can spend the winter getting everything ready for final paint in the spring.

Got firewall and dash sanded and painted. Modified fuel inlet for cell and will be installing today or tomorrow. I think its going to turn out pretty well.
Trying to get cab to primer before winter. Cant wait to get it back on the frame.
Can you believe that crap job on my filler. I know noone will ever see it but...that guy will never see me in his shop again.
Rant over...Was trying to figure out how to support cell from bottom and had an Aha moment. Turns out the stock straps fit this tank (which is 22 gal) perfectly. Then I straightened the last bend on the new top straps and rebent them 3/4 longer so that they would actually clamp the cell down. Cut rubber last night for cushioning and will install today or tomorrow.

jaz tank
looks good comming along very nice. When you say "stock strap" for the bottom is that jaz stock straps or ford straps. If its ford i guess purchase them from LMC?
I tried to post pics of my project but would take it. I dont know if my pics are to big or what i'll keep trying. maybe my kids can show me how/what i'm doing wrong. Let you know if i get them on there.
I plan on calling summit this and order my tankthis week. you said earlier that it was a custom order number. I let them figure that out.
let me know when you finally get the tank done.
Thanks

I used the stock tank brackets from my original Camper Special. I would think they are all the same for the 19 gal tank. As I said before I rebent the top straps from Jaz and put the bend an extra 3/4 to get the straps to clamp the tank in there solid.
Take note that I replaced the back crossmember and moved it back to accomodate the original fuel door. You may or may not have to do this mod. I also took the original crossmember from in front of the tank and modified it to fit the highboy frame. It was also moved to accept the fuel cell.
I had some stainless square tubing and cut some spacers (4 1/4 for the front and 4 3/4 for the rear) to bolt the cell to the crossmembers. This gave me perfect height to clear the bed. Pretty painless.
Last thing was to install a 36 inch braided fuel line which was exactly the right length to get over to the frame and through it and then connected to the new stainless fuel line.
Last thing was the grab it and shake it really hard test. Did not even budge.
One day I'll probably curse myself for not putting in a larger tank but I did not want to tank to hang down too low. I'm not planning any long trips in this truck anyway.
