Need a computer to run my tranny??

Ok so im new to the forum and i have a quick question about my truck..
I purchased a 1991 Ford f250 for $900 from a guy in my neighborhood who swapped a 1988 Lincoln 5.0 motor into it an he told me the tranny was shot because it wouldnt shift. So.. i pulled the tranny an had it all re-built by a local guy here in Des Moines an put the tranny back in an it still dosent shift. Im no too familiar with the tranny's in these trucks but i guess its the all electronic one with no TV cable on it. I guess my question is what computer do i need to run this transmission?? Ive swapped in about 4-5 different ones and none of them seem to make it shift??

Any help is much appriciated

it sounds like it has a E4OD transmission in it. yes you do need a correct matching computer to run it, so you need to find a 5.0/E4OD truck and get the computer and swap it in. otherwise it will not shift. any other computer wont work.

eh im not completely sure, there were a few years where the AOD-E was most common behind a 302 so its hard to say, maybe someone will come along that knows for sure

well before you get into all that. we need to figure out what trans you have, is it a 3 speed with a 4th overdrive? is there a cancel button on the end of the shifter or on the dash.
