I guess your better because you don't tell tales. but man are you quick to judge....
I actually DID help the original poster. I decoded his VIN for him and I gave him technical advice on Fordification.com
This is a truck forum, not a creative writing forum.
Oh yeah, prickly grass is not a drug, it is a weed that grows wild all over California.

Why don't you provide a link to your VIN decode on Fordification, so everyone here can view it?

You've been here on FTE for over seven years and have lots of Ford experience, and you once (as I recall) worked in the parts dept of a Ford Dealer.

How many posts have you read where people provide no useful info at all?

How many posts have you read that have bombastic and/or sarcastic comments?

How many times have you complained about any of them? I read more posts than just about anyone here on FTE, and I don''t recall you ever complaining about anyone else's.

The sad fact is Bobby, that people are gullible, will believe almost anything. But...the answer to the OP's question was answered in post #2, before the "creative writing" post.

I was mainly a heavy line tech and an auto trans tech for Ford (and Jeep, Chrysler, Peugeot, and other independent shops). I've done motors, rear-ends, stick trans, auto trans, brakes, light line, heavy line, etc.
I've seen several threads here with no actual info provided; just opinions.
I normally don't complain, but when someone new comes here and gets clowned hard enough to go somewhere else for info, it wreaks of counter-productivity.
You're right, Bill, I've seen many useless posts here containing zero actual technical information. One of the only reasons that I come here still is for the part number knowledge, part history and overall Ford knowledge that you provide (and some of the fab info and part info provided by Dave (Garbz). I also come here to provide mechanical technical knowledge for those less experienced than I. The BS clown story in this thread caused a newcomer to go elsewhere for the information that he was in search of. I am not impressed by someone composing an elaborate fairytale in a technical forum for the purpose of entertainment. If you don't know enough about the subject in the poster's thread then stay out of it until you can provide something beneficial.
This isn't a circus forum (or is it?). This is a place for those less informed to come to to get accurate, technical advice on thier vehicles. Perhaps this website should offer a fictional forum section.

I actually did not decode stuff for him on Fordification.com, I did it here, using info available from Fordification simply because THE VIN INFO IS NOT AVAILABLE HERE. Fordification has VIN information and decoders in a link, unlike this website.
Here's his VIN request info from this website: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-my-truck.html

FTE does have VIN decoders, but...IMO, they aren't worth two cents, have all sorts of errors and omissions. Where FTE got the info from, I haven't a clue...but it's not from any Ford parts catalog.

I'm aware that Fordification has decoders...taken from the parts catalogs, and exploded views taken from the parts catalogs.

Both are needed badly here on FTE, but try as I might...

I have offered the FTE "powers that be" my myriad parts catalogs, accessory brochures, color chip charts, colored upholstery swatch catalogs and other jazz, so they can turned into stickies available to FTE members.

I've discussed this with the "powers that be" several times, but...so far, nothing has come of it. It's a 30 minute drive from my residencia to El Smell-Gundo, where FTE (Internet Brands HQ) is located.

I could and will load the whole tamale into my car and take it there...all I'm waiting for is..."come on over."

Depends on how you look at it. I don't get paid here, while at my last parts ditty (back parts counter), I was making almost 8 grand a month, that's more than most parts managers make today.

I retired in 1997, became more human (according to She, who must be obeyed) after losing all my tolerance waiting on clucks at parts counters for 35 years.

Spent the next 9 years traveling the world, doing my thing, didn't look in any parts catalogs, except the two that cover 1963 Galaxies.

Now...here I am, typing this jazz for FTE members. My tolerance is low, because some people here on FTE are as dense as the driven snow, some are just ________ (fill in the blank).

And...on the net...you cannot tell people off...face to face...like I did at the parts counter a gazillion times.

The net is loaded with behind the computer screen "internet tough guys" that in the real world are nothing more than Casper Milquetoasts.

Man,have to admit I sort of enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek story, but don't want to drive any newbies away.My 23 and 21 year old sons still hold a grudge against me for taking them snipe hunting - fifteen years ago.Davbell, just laugh it off,and roll with the punches, there are some great resources here. This is obviously not a strictly technical site, more of a hybrid.Just enough clowning around that the average thick-skinned male(females too) shouldn't get too offended.Stick around,it's worth it.

[QUOTE=jowilker;9213760] ...I have never seen one company use another company's logo on their vehicles...

So they don't sell the Harley edition at your local Ford store, John?
