I bought my first Ford when I was 15. It's a 77 F250 4x4. Since then, I've acquired a few more and bought and sold many more than that. In the driveway right now I've got a couple 250 4x4 dentsides, a couple 78/9 Broncos and a couple later Broncos. I've tried getting in to later model trucks, but they just don't feel like trucks to me...and I think the 73-79 Fseries by far has the highest sex appeal.

 

My first new truck was a 1978 F150 4x4 swb 300 six 4 speed. I was 23 at the time. When I was 40ish my neighbor put his 73 Ranger 2wd XLT up for sale. I bought it and am finally making a 3/4 ton 4x4 out of it. It has about 80K miles on it. Here is my 73 on facebook.

Close but not Dentside, My first vehicle to drive when I got my licence was a Bumpside, 1972 F-100 XLT with a 360 2wd.

 

Mine used to. Then I got married and started to clean up the place. I' m down to a few trucks, but only my '79 Bronco and first '78 F150 4x4 for dentsides.

 

Ditto here. I envy you guys that have room to spread. I'm on a 6,000 sq.ft. lot in the CA suburbs with an enclosed carport atop a steep driveway. Luckily the driveway is three vehicles wide. My Dent's work area is my 10-foot wide sideyard.... I can't park anything on the other side of the garage because of retaining walls. If can't buy something that doesn't run because there's no way it can be pushed up the driveway. I could winch it up but the wincher would get blocked in. IT SUCKS but I make do...

Stupid things that have happened to me with a steep driveway:
1. I woke up one morning to find my PT Cruiser at the bottom of the driveway. I forgot to stick it in gear (it's a manual transmission) and the parking brake popped off its ratchet.

2. While rotating tires, I heard something going Ding-Ding-Ding. I looked over and saw that the tire I had leaned against the garage door frame had rolled down, crossed the street, hit the curb, and was bouncing it's way down the street. Ever see a grown man chase a bouncing tire? I still laugh when I think about that one.

3. My jack rolled down the driveway and lodged itself under my 68 Mustang. Luckily, I was just getting started on the bodywork.

4. I've chased cans of WD-40, spray paint, and brake cleaner and numerous sockets to the gutter.

 

Can you say driveway wide chalk block?

 

That's be a pain in the azz to do every day.

 

At the age of 15 my First vehicle was a 77 F-150 4x4 4speed with the mighty 300. It was totaled the next year by a telephone pole that jumped out in front of me I then replaced it with a 78 4x4 which i regretably sold a couple years ago...

 

Sadly I don't have a pic of my first vehicle. It was a 75 F150 2wd 360 4 speed, two tone green. Found it in a thrifty nickel paper, and my uncle and I went to look at it. Guy wanted 550, this was in 1993, I was 17. It had been used hard, rust in the typical places, really broken up windshield, and more bondo than anything else holding it together. It was a POS but it was my POS. Really wish I had a picture of it.

 

In 1987 my dad used my savings to buy a gun, gave a 1977 short wide bed 2wd auto 351m that used to be a bright yellow rural electric company pickup. I was in 10th grade in high school, first and only fender bender in parking lot, clipped a 79 f250!! Didn't hurt either one, but o course dad found out anyway!

 

Technically my 1st vehicle was a 1975 CJ-5 that I fixed up a little and sold. Then I used the money to buy a blue 1977 F-150 that was on 38's and had a 460 in it. I drove that my junior and senior years of HS. Good times. I wish i had a way to scan pics of it.

 

I was given a 79 F150 from my dad. Was my first vehicle when I started driving at 16. Been in the family 28 years. I am 20 now and I still drive it daily along with my 79 Bronco(paid 600 for it) and 73 F100(paid 500 for it).

 

My First was a 1972 F-250 Explorer Camper special, 390, C6, all the trimmings etc...

My second was a 1973 F-100 Custom. 302, t-18, limited slip, heavy duty package. None of the trimmings at all. Not even a radio.

My Third, which I still Drive is my 1981 F-150 Explorer Custom, 300, T-18. The 1981 is by far the best truck I've had mechanical wise. 300's last forever.

But there is nothing like the looks of the 1973 or 1972 is there?

As for sex appeal. The 72 turned the most heads, followed by the 1973. My 1981 turns a few heads as well. However, I'd say the 1973 was the most masculine truck. The 1972 and 1981 I have seems to be more, feminine. People who own these trucks should know what I mean.

 

mine was my 78 f250 ranger c6 400 4x4.. didnt pay a penny for it my dad's friend is a bow tie fan and he didnt want the truck around anymore luckily i asked what he wanted for it he told me to take it and get it off his property for him so iwas more than happy to oblige his request..still have it to this day got her back in 94 when i was 17 plan on giving it to my son someday...way in the future

 

I was 15 without a licence when i bought mine. 1978 F-150 Ranger XLT 351M, C-6, 4x4. Still have it, currently restoring it. and looking for a 2wd for a daily driver.
