Weight of 8' bed

Does anyone know the approximate weight of one of our 8' beds? I have a line on a bed for my '82 that is rust free and was barely used. I am trying to figure out how best to move it. Can 4 guys, one on each corner, lift an 8' bed, or do I need something like an engine hoist to pick it up? I am thinking that I might cut some short pieces of 2x2 wood and drop them into the stake pockets on my bed, then turn the new bed upside-down and lower it onto these stakes into its stake pockets, then lash it down. Anyone tried this? Thanks, Jim

Me and 2 other guys lifted the bed of a F350 dually, with the extra fenders and even a stupid plastic bed liner. If memory serves me right, we did take the tail gate off first.
It was a bit of a handfull, but we managed. Might have been easier with another person though.

I see no reason that 4 guys couldn't lift it high enough to get it on the stakes like you want. That idea should work, just add something to pad the top rails from each other.
Turning the bed upside down, on some long boards, and using those to carry/lift the bed might make it easier to handle.

The idea to use two boards is a very good one. I will flip it over onto two 4x4s, then four of us can lift it and walk it right over the bed of my truck and lower it down onto the stakes. I will put furniture blankets between the stakes to pad it.

Thanks for the help.

if you have a cherry picker you can put some 2x4's under the rails running across and lift it off by yourself.
