Wheel help!

So I have a 1995 F250 HD and its a gas engine. The truck originally had hub caps on it but not when I bought it. I want to know what after market wheels I could buy for a fairly cheap price. I really do not like the ugly black hub sticking out of the rear wheels and was wondering if the caps would cover those, or if I had other options with that. I also would need an open cap for my manual hubs in the front.

I liked the V-Line V172 from National Tire and Battery/Tire Kingdom but do not know if the caps will work.

V Line Performance Wheels ? V600 | V601 | V903 | V906 | V973

I want a somewhat stock looking wheel, nothing too fancy just something better than the wheels I have now. Prefer polished aluminum but I'm open for suggestions.

Please let me know what you recommend, I'm new to buying wheels so I do not know what will fit and what wont.

Thank you.

I would only reccommend the stock rims, if you are actually going to use your 3/4 ton truck as a truck that is for the following reasons;

#1 Your stock rims have the proper offset to keep the properly centered load on your wheel bearings.

#2 You don't have to worry about the fronts rubbing when you are fully turned.

#3 You don't have to worry about the rears rubbing either the bed or the fenders if you load the truck down.

#4 You don't have to worry about failing a road inspection due to the tires sticking out past the fenders.

#4A) You don't have to worry about paying for rock damage from tires that stick out past the fenders (in the majority of the states, this is illegal and makes you responsible for damage to other vehicals caused by the truck owners fault for not following the rules)

#5 You are assured that the load rating of the rims is proper for your trucks load capacity.

#6 You are assured that the proper lug nuts / rim centering is used, no hokkey aftermarket lug nut adapters.

#7 You can use the money you spend on rims on better tires.

#8 You will not be tempted to get excessivly bigger tires which will require the rear end ratio to keep the same load / towing capacity.

I personally would just hunt down some factory hubcaps and go from there. I agree that the rear hub (full floater) is pretty ugly sticking out. The factory hubcaps will cover these hubs.

And as you can guess, I am NOT a fan of aftemarket rims on load hauling trucks (with a few QUALITY, read expensive aftermarket rims), Cars & half ton trucks are a different deal as they never or are not rated to carry as much load and in there case a aftermarket rim makes more sense.

My opinon - David

Thanks david,

I'm not doing too much hauling with the truck. I am doing a semi-restore to it and hope to use it for my lawn company. I might have to go with the hub caps but would like to see what other people have done with a full floater

I used to have a 3/4 ton and I bought aftermarket 16.5" x12" white spoke wheels for it. The center caps that came with them covered the rear floater. I think U.S. Wheel makes a set like I had but I don't think they offer the 12" wide. 8" wide is all you'd need. I had 35" mud tires on mine.

BigBlueOx, do you remember the name of your old wheels? I really need to know for sure if the wheels work before I purchase them.

Have you looked at the LMC catalog wheels? I like the polished aluminum wheels from them but again, I do not know if the caps will cover the full floating axle

They were Superior Wheels which I think went out of bussiness. If you look on summit racings website for center caps they usually give the demensions.

Thanks a lot!

Will those caps work with any set of wheels? How do they attach? I saw some had wholes that the bolts go through but others didn't.

Thanks again

Usually most aftermarket wheels carry the same size center cap for same size rim. I think there is only 3 different cap sizes, 1 for mini trucks, 1 for 1/2 ton trucks, and 1 for 3/4?and 1 ton trucks.
The caps that I'm talking about slide in from the back of the wheel.
