Hey guys. A buddy of mine just bought a ford raptor with the 5.4l in it. The owner's manual is recommending that he use e85 ethanol fuel every 3000 miles. It says to fill it up with e85 and run through the whole tank. I understand that he may get better performance with it, but from a maintenance standpoint what is the purpose?

Ethanol is a cleaner, like a solvent. Maybe Ford is recomending it as a way to keep carbon deposits under control.
