To be completely honest every so often I go between letting her die slowly and fixing the rust issues.

I've though about posting a thread to see what the opinions here would be, but I'm guessing most of the users on here are a little biased

You also don't get a good idea of what all is wrong with the truck from that picture rust wise never mind the mileage and other issues it has.

Now here's a guy with his priorities in order! Take care of the wife first; keep the Ex going with a little rust, 2nd. Excursions are tools, lower on the priority scale than your family, dogs, relatives who are attorneys, mother-in-laws, etc, etc.

I'd guess it's not worth fixing. It's a losing battle here in the rust belt if you ever plan to drive it in the winter.

This is so true. Hell my Lincoln developed rust mysteriously after this winter of driving. All because ND decided to fallow MN in using liquid "ice melt" (aka car remover) on all the interstate and city roads. The thing was whiter than the salt flats when I went on a few road trips. It's sickening. I'd say just push the snow off the roads and let them be slick. Make people learn to drive in the **** and the world would be a better place.

Ditto for Texas. I have gotten 3 full replacements out of the ford battery from oreily auto parts. I learned if I park the scurge in the garage and shut the door during the summer I am lucky to get 18 months out of my batterys. I have learned to park it outside and wait until it cools down then pull it into the garage after the sun is down. The heat is a challenge so much so that I am looking really hard into the 2k oil cooler kit from Bulletproof.

Out in AZ it's a 2 or 3 year ritual. They just don't like the heat.
Seen it all; start fine in the morning, completely dead at 4pm. One even blew the caps off of the battery when starting.

Well... I'M OFFICIALLY BOOSTED!!!!!

Traded the 93 Civic VX about 2 weeks ago for a 2000 Accord and then today traded it off for this 2001 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta! It has a boost leak (PO tried to fix the silicone boot with electrical tape) but other than that it's MINT MINT MINT!!!! Seriously thought, it's about a 6 out of 10. I pulled the bumper tonight to make sure the IC didn't have any leaks while I was at it.
