I read something somewhere that made me think a Motorcraft alternator for a police Crown Vic would work in the Ex so I ordered one for a 2005 and just installed it. I had to open up the terminal a little but otherwise it bolted right up. I now have a Motorcraft 200 amp alternator. We will see if it causes me any headaches.
Do you happen to have the part number from the purchase or the year that it was purchased for?

I think all the 2003 to 2007 Crown Vic Police used the same one
The only thing I have noticed is my Bat light does not come on with the key, but I never paid attention to it before so I don't know if it worked or not. May or may not be from the alt.

Tried to track down a "wet weather/runs rough" condition. Rained a lot last night and even ran the X through the car wash to try to get it to act up....no such luck. I bought a Motorcraft mass air flow sensor, hoping next time it acts up, I'll switch it out and the problem will (hopefully) be gone!
