Thanks, that is my worry to, and then putting it back in. I got a used one as a spare and that is what I am rebuilding so I just have to swap them out. Figured if I screwed it up then my truck would still be up and running. No harm no foul.

Watch Trey's video before you do the fuel bowl.....makes it a lot easier if you haven't done one before. It helped me.

The hardest part I had was pulling the damn thing out. Not a lot of wiggle room in there with all the hard lines. Lots of swearing was involved.

Un-married my SCT programmer from my 5.4 and put it on my 6.8! I didn't know it but it had canned tunes installed so I went ahead and loaded it in and tomorrow I'll give it a try Now I can drop the price of my 5.4 a little but and start making a list of mods to the 6.8

Start in the transmission area first. You're dealing with more power bud, make sure that thing doesn't give up.

Looking good.

Point of note, those look like a set I had, and I mounted them about the same way on my wife's SUV, where the mounting nub on the lights is, there is a channel where that nub "hooks" into the light housing, well, that channel ended up filling with water, and I now have some fogging in one of the lights. I would take a look at yours, and if they have that same channel, I would fill in with silicone.

Just some food for thought.

My tuner made such a giant difference in the way it acted.

Have you decided where you are going to go for custom tunes?

Front axle rebuilt with 5.38 gears and added grease zerks on everything. Ball joints, U joints, knuckles, and unit bearings.

The tuner was night and day on the 5.4, I can only imagine what it will do to the 6.8! I used 5star before and the tune was alright. I never was able to get one of them to work, when I put it on one of the performance tunes the truck would sputter and hardly run. When I emailed them asking about getting it re-flashed for the 6.8 and buying a new y-pipe at the same time they told me it would be $105 EACH even if all I wanted them to do was erase the old tunes and add make a "custom" tune that included the y-pipe on it. That's all I wanted, just add the damn y-pipe that I'm buying from them! I spend a ton of money on this stupid SCT tuner from them and then when I ask for a small favor in addition to purchasing more of their products they treated me like some "big box" store. At least Summit Racing has competitive pricing, I'll just buy from them from now on. I used to preach 5Star all day every day, but not after this.

That sucks. I feel that they would have been a little more willing to work with you, esp if you got the tuner from them.

Might run the canned tunes for a bit and see how they run.

Honestly I didn't know you had a 5.4, but if you're interested and I can verify that the custom tunes that I bought for it will transfer over to your truck then by all means I'm actually wanting to get a Livewire tuner or something like that.

I made one pretty similar after I installed my Curt front hitch, sep'n I made it so the plate leans back about 30 degrees at the top. Cops always shoot for the front plate with their laser speed guns, so in theory, with the plate leaned back it will at least partially deflect the laser. Not that I speed anyway, but I figured anything you can do to CYA a little.......

Bah, just throw a little RAM coating on it and be done with it.
