What is the going rate for running boards around you guys? I like this style and don't currently have any on the truck. Would help for the wife and other famiry members.
It's snowing here in Texas this morning buuuuut it's supposed to be sunny this afternoon lol. Here's my frozen Ex during all the ice the past 2 days. Yea I know, this is nothing but its a big deal here!
Just got the rear end in my Ex back together after a pinion bearing failure. Had a small leak at the pinion seal and a little noise, then got real bad all the sudden while on a 1400 mi round trip home during leave over Christmas. Got it home ok, lot of oil mess and a little noise, put in the garage and started tearing down on my weekends. Cage on the outer pinion bearing was broken, luckily there was enough preload to keep the rollers in there between the bearing and race, so no real damage done. Both pinion bearings had some pitting in addition to the broken bearing cage, carrier bearings looked good, but decided to go ahead and do all of them. Pinion nut came off waaay too easy (not my first rear end job, lol) so I suspect that had something to do with the failure. Probably had a pinion seal replaced, reused crush sleeve and pinion nut with no locktite and not enough preload... Finished it up while I am off due to an ankle surgery, its running quiet and not leaking oil the past few days with the wife driving around, so I am happy! On to the next project, lol.
This week has been good to the Ex. First a set of air bags for the rear end. Second a new set of shoes. The size and tires are: BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 285/75R16
So what I thought was wind noise turns out to be coming from my driver's side front wheel. Very loud squealing, no idea even where to start. I'll dive into it tomorrow after two midterms.
Another big snowfall. Running out of places to put it.
It was 88 degrees here today and tomorrow's forcast calls for 90
36F and sunny here! basically no snow left! I actually put my truck into 2wd today!!
Got me new tires in for my F-150...i'm going to have to try really hard not to take my snow tires off. I KNOW we are going to get some big dumps of snow in March and April but these warm temps is making it temping!
