The rear end was rebuilt at an early mileage and experienced only 1 diesel failure, an STC fitting at 59000. I purchased it with 74,000 miles on it in 2010.
Yours was born the day before mine!

Mine started its life where the wind comes sweepin down the plains and made its way to The Great State of Texas where it's stayed.

A few injectors failed due to a weak fuel pump, the STC fitting failed, and there were a few other minor things, but it was and still is a trouble free truck, even more so in my hands.

The Excursion kept me warm while going from bus stop to bus stop shoveling things out. My Uncle's normal guy has left so he's getting me to do the bus stops the rest of winter. Just had 16 inches yesterday with another 20 on the way tomorrow afternoon.

Winter might have came late but it is back with a vengeance!

Just a little snap of what they look like. Just a mountain of icey snow packed in there. Not a fun job for sure.

Also bought a 1996 B2400 Kubota tractor today. 1300 hours on it, it's still an infant and is in phenomenal shape. Came with a 63" snowblower (mounts on the front, double score), la351 bucket, 54 inch mower deck, and a plow. Got a real steal. A company was getting it off the books, so they sold it to me at the depreciated value. I got it for $454.39.

Went riding today. Was questioning the wisdom of that when the road into the parking lot started looking like this and I found one of our guys stuck in a ditch. So hooked up a strap and yanked him out then continued on to the parking area. The riding was much better than I was expecting.

This is what i have to look forward to. Temps are perfect but...

I like sunshine as much as the next guy, but this will get old fast. I'll take clear sky and sun in June, July and August...along with 70F + temps.

Picked up some '12 20's chrome clad wheels w/center caps and lug nuts for $100. He also had the stock 12 headlights for $80. Didn't need them but couldn't pass them up. After leaving him to go pick up some 08 running boards from a crew cab I had to stop at the on ramp to the interstate. I wanted to make sure the wheels were secure and not going to get damaged. Got back in and getting ready to drive off, then some crazy chic in a mustang goes out of the lane and into the shoulder where we are parked. She ends up hitting us on the left rear, right at the taillight, pauses for a second and speeds off. I took off to get her license plate and then let her go only to get caught a few miles down the interstate. We found out later she has no license or insurance and local police knows who she is right away. Anyways, I did get some good deals for the ex but cant do much with them right now. You would think if a person didn't have a license or insurance you would be more careful.

One guy is in a ditch and another is shoveling out bus stops full of packed snow and ice. Roads are crap and school is closed again.

Remind me again WHY you guys are wishing for snow?

Everyone, need some quick advice.

While doing my once every two week inland haul from the coast, I noticed that while my coolant temps were right at 190, my oil temps stayed about 178-180. The only time I got them any higher, was when I had my foot in it while climbing a hill. The outside weather was dry and in the high 40s to low 50s...

Should I bee looking at replacing my thermostat? What could be causing such low temps?

Thanks!

For me snow means money, We ordered a million dollars in snow plow stock this season. Typically by now we are almost sold out of every blade size, doing 5-10 installs a week. We have not done a plow install in weeks. This year is KILLING our bottom line and i'm sitting on stock that should be gone.

It means money on a personal level also when i go out plowing, one driveway will pay for my lunches for a week.

I love driving on winter roads, I like sledding and generally playing in the snow. It's Alaska and 6 months of the year are supposed to be white and fluffy.

Plus snow is beautiful!

Remove your oil temp sensor, clean It with a little brake cleaner. As long as you don't get below 190, it's still ok.
