What did you do to the X today?
Ok, I got it then. I'll be cool like Mecdac by nightfall!
1. Go to sports store
2. Buy targets
3. Buy some arrow shafts (No need for the tips as they will not be seen)
4. Buy some hay from someplace
5. Go home, place the target on the hay
6. Stab the shafts in the proximity of the "bulls-eye" and say I made the shot from a mile away or something
7. Be cool like Mecdac
I need to do a How-to for the sticky now.

Like the stock exhaust from my pickup that I have kicked around the shop for 3 years and am finally going to bring up to the scrap yard?
"Do you know how many boxes of vitamins you have?"
"Yes, six."
"No, ten."
"Do you want me to die? Wait, don't answer that."
That happened to mine last spring. If i set it in just right, it would stay. My lio-o-meter finally went completely dark a couple of weeks ago. It was going dim for a while, but I havent had time to mess with it. Little stuff like that bothers me. i had some time today to mess with the upper console. I pulled it, and took it into my shop to work on it.
The LOM module was first on the list. I pulled the black module from the outer shell, and noticed a little rattle inside. When I opened it, one of the chips had come completely off the PCB. These 620/680 chips are about the size of a cooked grain of rice. They're tiny. This pic shows where it came from.
On the back of this board are two solder rails which are common to all the chips in the row. Instead of trying to get that tiny component soldered to the front, I ran new solder across the length of both joints, and reinstalled the chip to the BACK of the board. There's no sense trying to get it on the front. That red cap is just too close, IMO. I crossed my fingers, put the case back around the LOM board, reinstalled the module, and moved on.
Next was that GDO console door. While taking apart the black plastic inner cubby shell from the outer, my map light switch separated, and fell apart. More fiddly little pieces. To get the button portion out from the console, I pulled apart every black piece, from every tan piece. Just little torx screws holding it all together.
Since I had my 15/100wt iron out to do the soldering, I just used it to weld the corners of the plastic switch case together. Did the other switch too, while it was open.
Check mechanical operation, and put those back in.
My GDO console door hinges were busted up pretty good. Only a couple little broken parts floating around in the console.
With the hot iron, small piece of wire, and old cel phone case for plastic filler, I rebuilt the hinges. There are small black tangs on the black cubby back that hold the hinges in place. Making something new to work correctly with those was a PITA. Check and adjust, over and over.
Call it good, plug it in, remount, and turn on the key.
Map lights, GDO cubby door, and LOM all working again. I was surprised the MPG on the LOM had non volatile memory. I'll drive around in circles later to see if compass re-calibrates.
Tore into the brakes today with Razzi (Toreador_Diesel) to find out which one was emitting that lovely sound of metal on a lathe. Turned out to be worse than anticipated...
Turned out to be the left rear, so new rotors and pads for both rear brakes and it was good to go. Just kidding! During reassembly and compressing the pistons so they'd fit with the new pads, discovered the lower piston didn't want to compress at all. So BACK to the parts store for new calipers. Bled all the brakes, bedded in the pads, and then pulled the red line off the waste gate (hoooooolllly crap difference) and decided to see what it'd do...
Not bad for five tons of fun rolling flat land on the 80-Eco tune.
Bonus pic of Razzi...
And finally a pic of the monster rear hook that I had powdercoated...
All in all, an eventful albeit expensive day.

I did get to drive his 7.3 with upgraded goodies on it today, I'm addicted to that 38R whistle holy crap.
