Noticed my tie-rod grease fitting is done, totally busted. I just did the tie-rod with the MOOG part three months ago. Looks like I'll be going for a warranty replacement.

Ordered some Pacer Performance heavy duty fender flares.

I am thinking of ordering a new passenger rear caliper, mine sticks and squeals intermittently. I thought I had fixed it, and the clips and slide pins are good. Any ideas on fixing a sticky caliper before giving up and replacing it?

When it sticks it makes that wheel really hot, too hot to touch.

Check the pins again, see how easily it compresses with a C clamp, grind down the shoes etc where they come in contact with the caliper, and check the E brake.

Thanks Brent,

I don't think it is the e-brake, I did those shoes last year, and it seems to squeal more or less as I use the brake pedal.

I am tempted to just buy at new caliper, labor adds up, even with my buddy charging me a friendly rate. I opened them up last week with him, filed down the part where the clips go, and put it back together. Thought we had it fixed and gave him $25. I called the parts store today and they are asking $67 for the right rear caliper, labor to swap that part in would be a half hour.

I'll be sure to check the e-brake for good measure when we have it opened up.

Right now I am sort of afraid to drive it. I drove about 150 miles yesterday and checked the wheel when I got home, it was so hot, way too hot to touch. I am afraid that will make my tire blow out. I've been driving my Land Rover with broken A/C today.

Something definitely wrong in there, maybe it is the caliper and pistons. Put a little high temp grease on all the pad contacts etc this time.

why do some of these brake pads have such lousy fitting ?
Even the better brands. I put some hawk pads on a car last year. They fit really bad, seemed the ends were just a bit too big for the calipers. and , they also had some stupid pins sticking out that weren't on the originals. Even contacted hawk, they said it was the right set.. ohwell. Got it to work after grinding the pins down.

I love my Flex..... whats funny is that it is listed as a wagon on the title...... so is it cool to have a retro wagon..... or your an old fart driving a station wagon around? I still like the looks of it, like an old surfer wagon....

As for the Excursion, going to buy a steering gearbox in the next 2 weeks.....

Those mirrors are huge! I think one of my future mods should be the 08 mirrors with the bigger curved mirror.

Got her back this afternoon. Drove great on the trip home. I can't believe how bad it had gotten. The tie rod and/or ball joints were so loose that when I would hit the expansion joints in the highway, it would shoot the Excursion to the left or right. I also had the clunk under the floor under braking. All gone. Drives straight and true even over bumps now.

I like the way it sits and am glad he left the stock Excursion blocks in the back.

With the extra height, I can now really feel the lack of a rear sway bar. What were they thinking?

I wonder if the light duty option would work on an Excursion. I like the tow mirrors on my new F150 better than those I had on my last two Super Duties.

Took a day off work and did a few things to The Mighty Excursion.

-Had a serious High Pressure leak so I removed the HPOP and:
-R&R the oil galley plug with the updated long thread DT466 plug
-Replaced the HPOP gasket
-R&R the STC fitting seals
-Resealed whatever fittings were removed with Loctite 680

-A week ago I broke the EBPS clean off, so while I had to have the inspection cover off, I used an easy out and got the broken thread out. Replaced the broken sensor with a spare I had.

-Performed a visual inspection and tightened up whatever I found loose or needing attention.

Took the Ex for a drive and I don't see any leaks, hoping the issue is permanently fixed.

Looks great Scott!

They were probably thinking of safe handling for the stock ride height.

Well, you can feel the sway at stock height it's just not as pronounced. (Obviously).

Edit: thanks by the way. I'm very happy with it so far.
