Went on a 800 car+ cruise yesterday with my brother. Unfortunately half way threw something in the valve train gave it up so we had to trailer it home. It my be a broken valve spring again. The springs he has to use only have like a two year life span. In fact the manufacturer says they should be changed every year.
As far as valve springs go, If you race the car often, you should change them by the year. If you cruise the car and occasionally go to the track, every 2 or 3 years. the most important part of saving springs is backing off the rocker arms of the ones that are on a lobe when you store the car. If you store it with compressed springs, they will break the next season. I've had the same springs on my heads for about 10 years and always back them off without issues. I sharpie which ones on the valve covers. My car goes 9.80's and has a .670" solid roller, .290 @ .050. Its pretty rough on the valve train. You also want to make sure you're at least a hundred from coil bind.

Double shoulder belts on both seats and roll bars. Uncle and I just finished it up the other day. 3.08 S10 axle. Can't go much faster than a couple miles an hour, you'd just turn brains into mush.
Do you have a way to uncouple the platform so you can transport it from place to place a little faster?
No, it is "super" welded to the axle. By super I mean the excursion frame should break in half before this thing comes apart. We didn't really want any weak points, however I'm sure an improved, safe system to couple/uncouple could be devised in the future.
