yes the 02-04 headlights (direct swap) have a huge difference in light output over what my old stock 2000 did. i hear the '05s are great also but are not a direct swap.

Today seemed like a great day to drag the Toyota around...

About 95 miles, mostly highway. Estimating conservatively the trailer weight was 9,560 lbs. Two conclusions:

1. The Red Head steering gear is freaking AWESOME. Huge improvement in my ability to control the trailer. Night and day difference in stability between this and my trip out East last November. Of course then I had an additional ~5,500 lbs on the trailer.

2. My freaking truck is STILL SHAKING on the HIGHWAY. If it were possible to light a driveshaft on fire it would likely be still smoldering on the service manager's desk.

Jay, I think one of the greatest front end upgrades you could do is headlights. Either strait drop in 01-03's or the 05's which require cutting and pigtails and stuff. The extra light output of either one will make you glad!
Because that's what they do..........bump. My back one had a dent until I got an almost new OEM bumper with all the extras at a garage sale for $15 and sold the pads, brackets, etc, for $65 and still have the reinforcement bar, plus it went right in with no adjusting. Sometimes things just go right.

By all measurements it should, and my 4,400 lb ramp gate is barely beefy enough to handle it. I will be finding out before I sell it, and you're welcome to drag it around with your truck.

7,350 lb Excursion + 4,200 lb trailer = 11,550 lbs.

And the vibration still seems weird, when did it start?
When they installed the new tires!

Sweet! It will probably be much easier to back up then a single axle 10' snowmobile trailer, lol

Id say you could put on my back two tires/wheels but they are pretty much bald and vibrate alot also hahaha

its gotta be the tires! my summer set on my stock 16s vibrate, my winter ones on different wheels dont and neither do my 20s. it was so slight i never messed with it..other then pulling my rear d-shaft and driving with the front one thinking it was the d-shaft.

Took the X to go look at a set of chrome rims, but they are 10" wide and I don't think I wanna go that wide.
Then took the X for a good bath and when I came home it was so nice outside I felt I needed to put on my summer mud tires.
Also took off the now redundant lights above the bumper.

+1 on the new lights. I added these to mine, eBay lights with no wiring change at all.
Can i ask who you ordered them from on e-bay?

Thanks

hmm. i am planning on getting some 18x10 wheels for my truck, -12mm offset. i had 17x9s before...so i dont think an extra inch will be too bad? Im planning on running 35x12.5x18 and the recommended rim width is 8.5-11" i think

I think these are the ones. They are Eagle Eye brand. Cheap and work well enough, but I will say they didn't quite fit just like OEM lights.

No mods to install, just bolt right in and plug in.

Light output was a significant improvement, but as you can see my old lights were pretty hazy, even after a restoration treatment.

I also installed these bulbs FWIW.

I like that look, might try it if I ever get the itch to change it up sometime.

seems like every 10" i've seen sticks out past the fender...exactly what i did not want. everyone's wants/needs are different but i like a tire fully under the fender without any sticking out...basically stock type back spacing/offset.

i should have said "in my opinion they would be too much" lol
