sold my explorer this morning, then went to lunch with a friend. after that went to buy groceries at fred myers. busy parking lot with alot of people...so i just parked on the curb which in the summer has wood chips and crap in it..winter time it makes perfect truck parking. i came out to a 5'3" lady parking her yellow super duty right next to me...AWESOME! but the 8-14" of snow we are getting is making the roads horrible..glad i kept the snow tires on!
Only the casing is aluminum and they are probably phasing out the all steel/carbide ones.

Today we finished putting the fuel pump in and got her all buttoned up again. She's running, but still rough... Just can't seem to get this problem figured out. Oh well, next on the list of things to replace is the exhaust. Still need to get my 5 Star Y Pipe installed, new cats and probably a whole new system, its old and ugly under there...

Really sounds to me like you need to find the problem before doing any mods. If it's running rough it's not likely a problem with your exhaust.

Have you checked the COP's? How is it running rough?

From a financial stand point, this really is a smart choice.

I'll be interested to hear how well it pulls that trailer of yours fully loaded!

not here LOL the big selling point that the big tire sellers up here use. i bought the firestones because they were cheap..it was cheap because of the cheaper studs. the steel ones last atleast 3x longer.

Crazy, congrats on the new f-150! selling the fusion?? i've really been thinking about buying a reg cab, STX, 4x4 5.0. since that would be in my price range plus i would not be selling anything else to get it. if i could swing my boss's 2011 lariat limited with the 6.2 i would jump on that in a instant!!

Yup, trying to consolidate some. It's a shame, as I really like both the Ex and the Fusion. Unfortunately I wasn't prepared for exactly how fast a 4-cylinder FWD car would depreciate or the number of things that can break on an Excursion.

It's going to Concord, NH next week to have the dealer figure out why it's making so much noise on the highway, and then Craigslist!

Changed oil, changed antifreeze, and added a external trans filter.

Here you can see where I pulled the rubber line off that goes the trans cooler in front of the rad. Used a rubber hose and ran that to the feed side of the filter.

Than stuck the hose I pulled off the steel line onto the out port on the filter housing.

So, now the trans fluid comes out of the trans, into the radiator "cooler", into the filter, out to the external cooler in front of the radiator, than back to the trans.

i know your already set and doing what your going to do. but what about selling the fusion and daily driving the excursion? it is paid off so even with repairs (i've had less then $1k in repairs in 22k miles) and low MPG it might be a cheaper option?

i understand the temptation of the new f-150s. but i sold one excursion and i'll never do that again. keeping this one forever!

get lots of pics of the new truck!!

Checked and they're all tight and connected, however I would love to find a method to maybe OHM test them to see if one is bad possibly.

It just hesitates really bad. Also seems to flood (best description I can think of) when starting up sometimes.

I thought about that, but I drive about 2,000 miles per month, and the fuel economy difference would destroy most of the savings of not having the payment. Rough estimate is that i'd burn another $318/month in gas which would effectively negate losing a $350/month payment!
