The Two-tone Paint Job 1954

The red is slowly going away on my old red '54. I am considering a two-tone paint job for the new version of this old girl. A satin gray/green that is known as "sage" seems to fit the bill for my finely honed sense of aesthetics... that part was easy for someone in west Texas.

The markedly handsome '54 grille is now painted "ivory" or is it "almond?" ... in any case, it had me thinking, "hey, how about the roof painted this color? ... hey! and how about the flat area on the tailgate?"

Without having to stop and fool with photos, (don't want to lose the momentum) I wonder if any of the viewers out there have some shots of a two-tone paintjob that reeks of "cool."

I've seen a few in the galleries ... (again, don't want to get lost looking at pics)... anyone spot a truck painted this way? Sure would like to see what one would look like from the rear or 3/4 rear....

Will take pictures if my urges take me this way....

thanks, himmelberg

Sounds like a ivory roof would work well. Maybe a photoshop is in order?

The white roof really is amazingly cool even when it is 90+ outside, in the sun, and I don't even have a headliner or insulation yet...

Yeah! I love the white roof!!

Instead of PhotoShop though......get the GIMP!
It does just about everything that PS does for FREE!!

I gotta say, Ross. Your truck is sharp. I like it!

Hey fellas thanks for the pics and ideas. Awesome picture, Andrew, just what I had in mind... nice to hear from another voice from the past.
The white roof... or light colored roof... is a nod to the blistering west Texas sun, Ross. I'll bet your NM sun blisters even hotter.

Turns out that the almond color is a lot too yellow... gonna research an ivory hue. The names are deceptive...

Looks like I could have waited until the sun was already up, but there's only a week left on our summer break...

Thanks guys, himmelberg
