Are those #rs the same for a 94-97 truck? I know that with the SCMT a 94-97 PSD is only able to get about 60hp out of it (from what I've been told) due to the injectors.

Too bad performance companies 'forgot' about the older trucks. Guess that they dont relize (or dont care) that there are still a lot of us out there ready to spend $. Most all the new stuff is for super dutys. I could have sent my $ to diablo, guess it's going to SuperChips now.

They haven't forgotten them. I was told that "for now" its 1999-2003. You release a product for the largest market first and 1999+ tuning products outsell 1994-1998 ten to one.

 

Yea, that's what they said about the 'X'-moniter, still waiting for that too. I understand the consept behind it, it's just frustrating waiting. On the other hand, it helps to make sure the bugs are worked out before it gets to the other 'smaller market' groups.

I think the programers are bigger with the 99+ guys because their more worried about warrentys and all. If they take their truck in for warenty work, it's a lot easier to deprogram than it is to remove a chip. Almost all of the 94-97 trucks are out of warrenty already. If not due to milage, then to time.

Ken, I am assuming this will be for any PSD January 99 on through? Can I do all of the programming and not take it to the dealer for any reflashing of the chip.

No, not any 1999 PSD. Late 1999 PSDs and newer. For a 1999 PSD I would need to know the ECU code. Diablo is going to be adding the older codes later.

No need to take it to the dealer. You plug it in the OBD-II port, same way a Micro Tuner does. It reflashes the stock computer after saving a copy of the original program. You can restore the original program at a later date.

I've been on this site for days investigating chips. Just got home and set down to order the Diablo 54/78 and now I see the Damn Predator. Are the pre set (novice) modes other than being a few more HP set up with the same type power curve (that eveyones so happy with) as the 54/78 hp? Is the Pedator something that stays plugged in all the time? I dont understand all that hitech computer wizzard code stuff that it does. When I buy bigger tires, can I program it for that?
Bottom Line = Is it better than the Diablo 54/78 chip?
Pros?.... Cons?
Oh, by the way would I need my code to order?

Sounds like you only need to know your code if you have a 99-99.5 truck. It doesnt stay pluged in all the time. You plug it in the diagnosis port, follow the instructions on the screen. Once it's programed ya unplug it and keep it in a safe spot so if you ever need to unprogram it (taking it to the dealer for work) you can do so easily.

It only took a couple mins to use my SuperChips Micro Tuner I got today, I'll assume that the Diablo is the same way.

 

Correct, the tuning procedure is similar to the Microtuner. However, you can optionally leave it plugged in as you drive and get live sensor data.

The presets use the same "signature" Diablo tuning. Other than HP, the results will be similar. You cannot change tire size calibrations with it. However, you can purchase custom tuning and the dealer can download it into the Predator.

Bottom line is, all the products are good --- each fills a different niche.

Ken, can the progams be changed to higher HP levels? Say 50, 70, 90, 120?

 

At this time custom coding is not yet available. There is a port available so dealers can download custom code into the Predator but the software required for us to do this is not yet finalyzed....

I have not been able to find any info on the torque gains associated with the HP gains. Do you have any idea?

Also, I read where this tuner will be forever married to the truck it is programed to, so no reselling on ebay.
