6 3/4 ft bed vs. 8 ft bed - 5th wheel under bed rail question
Hi everyone,
I've got a 350 CC/SB 6.7 on order.
The 8ft bed has a nice round flat spot right between the wheel wells for the underbed Reese OEM gooseneck ball adapter (for hole in bed) and has four round recessed areas for the Reese Elite series underbed attachments for the 5th wheel hitch. These would be drilled with a hole saw to do the install.
Does the 6 3/4 ft bed have the same round recessed areas in the bed for the gooseneck ball and the 5th wheel hitch legs?
If these same stampings appear in the 6 3/4ft bed, is the gooseneck ball area approx 4" ahead of the axle? (I'm trying to figure out what my aftermarket options are on a 5th wheel underbed mounting system)
I hope my questions about the bed stamping between the 6 & 8 ft bed makes sense.
Thanks
DH

I really like my B&W setup. It only has the center hole in the bed where either the gooseneck ball or the Companion fifth wheel drop in. The fifth wheel comes out in less than 10 minutes and leaves a clean bed. I frequent the RVnet forum, home of some of the biggest complainers alive, and have not heard one complaint from a B&W owner. The Companion fifth wheel is always praised about it's solid jaw locking mechanism. Mine setup was $1300 installed.

There is a manufacturer that makes a sliding hitch for the B&W set up. I use the B&W Companion without any difficulties so far. My Heartland Big Horn has a front cap designed to turn up to allow 88 degrees with a short box. I have been that far once, two weeks ago, on wet grass. I do not know how it would work with your fiver.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Here is a photo of another members 2011 truck (Skylinekw) and it shows the 6 3/4ft bed with the factory indentations for the gooseneck ball and the reese 5th wheel leg mounts. Looks like the gooseneck would be mounted just 3"-4" in front of the axle.
(thanks Skylinekw for letting me post your truck - and congrats!)
