Early cars had no headlamps or taillamps, carbide headlamps weren't used until circa 1903 and were an extra cost option.

What vehicle came with carbide lamps after 1920?

Thermostat, no, this part can be taken off one vehicle and used on the next vehicle of a different make and year.

You don't need to know the year or make of the vehicle to buy it although the guys at the local chain parts store would probably need to know the year, make and engine to determine the part number and then tell you they could order it. At a good parts store the guy would just tell you "it's hanging on the rack over there".

You guys are going to hit yourself, it's that easy.

Man this is driving us nuts. I've gone through every car I own from bumper to bumper in my mind and nothing meets the criteria you're mentioning. I want to say dipstick but that's been modified a zillion times and probably didn't even exist way back when. For the good of mankind, tell us the answer.

I would have to say water/antifreeze to cool the engine, which I think someone previously mentioned.
