Question Dash shakes

I know that someone out there must have had this problem, as my '93 Bronco did the same: my '94 Bronco's dash shakes around quite a bit on rough roads. Just the right side, the driver's side doesn't seem to move. Is this normal, and is there a fix? I've looked, but can't seem to find a cause.

Check your mount over on the right side in the crack between the wall and dash. Mines broke and rattles and squeeks on rough roads

the plastic mount for the dash on the lower right side is probably broken off. Very common on the 92-96 trucks, They made a repair kit but you can make your own if you like. I took a common L bracket and secured mine. no more rattle or shake.

Great topic, snowdog!

My '94 Bronco's right side of the dash started shaking up & down on rough roads last summer. Found a sliver of plastic on the floor, figured something broke. Too hot to spend time looking under a dash then, will do it in winter... I forgot all about it last winter. I better do it this winter, before it shakes enough to break off the [I]next[I] mount.

I didn't realize it was that common of a problem!

From FORD you get one steel, double angle bracket, three pop rivets, and a set of installation instructions all in a box.

They did have to order it and it cost $18.72 plus Tax for a total of 20.09 as of 11/04/05.
It took about two days to get it and with out this number they did not know what I was talking about.

The dash panel goes from door to door.
I think you are thinking of the instrument cluster.

Yesterday morning I took a quick look at mine. Over by the door, between the dash and the top of the side cowl panel trim that goes up for a bit next to the dash, I could see a bolt head. And black plastic under the bolt head. Black plastic that was broken on both sides of the bolt head!

And today I read subford's post, with link for the kit, right where mine is broken!

Thanks subford!!!

I got the kit on mine. It works great. To install it you'l have to take the whole dash loose, and swing the passenger side back a little, but its not that bad. I left the bolts installed on the driver side and just loosened them and removed the bolts on the passenger side. I had mine repaired in about 15-20 minutes.

TexasGuy, did you have to do anything with the steering column, like let it down onto the seat?

I made my own bracket out of flat steel. than used garilla glue to hold it to the dash... works wonders, only needed to remove one bolt to install. I'll get a pic or two in a min...
