Nothing wrong with what you want to do. You might want to consider a 3" spindle kit (comes with 2" block for the rear). It will level out the truck and make for a nice appearance. You don't have to, but you might want to consider a locking differential. It will add a lot of traction and you can do it yourself for low $.

Can't really remember for sure but not very expensive. You'll get the two front spindles, two 2" blocks for the back and shocks for the front for less than $300 I believe. Check your local off road shop and ask for Fabtech brand. There are other brands, but Fabtech is the one I am most familiar with and I like their quality. The locking differential for the back should run you right around $400 for whatever brand you might choose. Look at your diff, write down the numbers from the tag or stamp then do your research on the net before you go to make a purchase. My personal recommendation is a Detroit Locker but there are other brands that will give you a quieter operation and good quality.

PS on my previous post.

Make sure the locking differential you choose states that you should be able to do it yourself. Some of the lockers require a different pumpkin and the job ain't so easy. The ones you can do yourself should take no more than 2 hours and should fit inside your exhiting diff housing.

You can edit and add to your post for up to an hour after posting it...

I consider blocks to be unsafe on lighter vehicles. On HD vehicles with a spring pack thicker than 4" they are OK, -if they are less than 1/2 the thickness of the spring pack :-)

-Just my penny's worth...
