Yeah, planned on holding onto it. The head isn't in that bad of shape, just a cleaning and it should be good to go. It really is just the rings and/or piston cylinders, as I'm getting some nasty fuel oil mixing, and it will push oil out of the spark plug holes if they aren't tight.
Now dont get all excited or anything but I MAY have exactly what you are looking for. I just had to scrap out an 85 F150 with the 300 I6. I traded the whole truck for a tranny take out and install. I might be able to get the whole engine, brain box and all. If you are interested shoot me an E-mail. Same username at g mail dot com.
I forgot to add, the motor has close to 180,000. No leaks nor burned oil. Has a new pulley tensioner and new belt. Oil and filter was changed every 4-5,000. I would still be driving it today except for the fact all the rear spring perches looked like swiss cheese and the front suspension had a bad case of the I Leans.
I have an Offenhauser intake, 4V holley 390cfm, used to be on my '84 300-6 and '86 or later exhaust manifold. Also have a "Power by Ford" valve cover. All for sale. Pennsylvania, near Gettysburg.
