Roland GX-24 is Here

Vinyl cutter is here and setup and ready to go. Already used up the test sheet just to get the hang of it all. I've got a couple of rolls of heat transfer vinyl hopefully shipping tomorrow to try to work on my farm logo and see how that goes.

To texans(hopefully he'll see this post): You were right, the CutStudio software is limited in the design area, but I think that they actually planned for it to be that way. Their Illustrator plugin works well and I think for the time being, I'll just use that as my design program and just send it to CutStudio when it's time to do the cutting. If it's alright, after I get a few more cuttings under my belt I might have to "pick your brain" to see what little tips and/or tricks I can pick up to make things go easier.

Now if my large format printer would just get here. I think I have another week on that one.

Congrats Tex.
You will no dought enjoy that thing. Anytime you got any questions just shoot me a pm or email. I will help you the best I can. I had a lot of fun doing some of the work I have done in the past. I'm really falling behind on some stuff I have told people I would do for them since I don't mess with it much anymore I find it harder and harder to get to the cutter to do the work I need to do.

Cool! I have a hand me down Stika 8" cutter that I play with, still learning how to get the lines right. My first project was last week when I replaced the stealership logo on my mudflaps. I think it turned out pretty good.

That adds quite a bit to those mud flaps that's for sure. Good Job! I had looked at the Stikas as well. Heard a lot of good things about them. Do you have the SV-8?

The biggest thing that I'm trying to get the hang of is doing the Crop Marks for a pre-printed piece and then importing from Ai to CutStudio to do the cutting. I've had some stumbling blocks with that. I'm going to try to some heat press vinyle on a shirt today, hopefully that vinyle will come in this morning. It's scheduled to anyway. I'm going to try to do my farm logo. I did the farm logo a long while back, long before I was even thinking about the vinyl cutter, but luckily it is a good candidate for the cutter. So that's going to be my first project.

It is the SV-8 which is perfect for me but very limiting for anyone trying to make a living with it. My cousin bought a SX-15 and then gave me the SV-8 (lucky me) I am terrible at converting but will get it figured out. I have watched some "how to" vids on youtube about how to make multi color projects etc...... I have burnt up a bit of vinyl practicing.
