In bed fuel tank

Do most of you guys just plumb a line into the neck of your front tank when you have an in-bed fuel tank?

Since my back tank has a whole in it, I was thinking of running the line into the slector valve as the back tank? The problem is I'm not sure what to do about the return. I'm assuming it would need to go into the in-bed tank. Any ideas?

instead of buying a new rear tank i got a $1100 diaplate 105 gal tank that has a eletric pump on it-here in mass its against the law to pipe in to another tank. ya know i never did anything against the law!

Yeah, if your back tank is being replaced by the Aux Bed tank, then the return line would need to be run to it instead.

I am running my Aux tank to the front tank and plumbing into the top of the tank. I can fill the front tank as I need with a secondary valve, and not messing with the fuel system with the connections. I picked the front tank as its the smallest and runs out the quickest. I also like the fact I dont have to run so much line to the rear tank!

So do your just crack the valve open when your on long trips? What about accidently leaving the valve open? It shouldn't be a problem as long as the fuel cap is on right?

When I pop the valve open, it begins to fill the tank. I use a 3/8 diameter hose to run from the Bed Aux to the front tank, so filling is slow. As it fills the fuel gauge goes up. When I near the full mark I shut it off.

I havent left it on arbitrarily before, but as long as the gas cap is on snug and seals it may just fill and stop. I know there is a check valve on the breather hose (in case we flip our trucks over) so that should keep the fuel in!

Matt, that's what I'd like to do with mine. Haven't gotten around to it yet. Pics will help.

I thought some more on it today. I think I'm just going to get a T connection and plumb it into my fuel line before the electric pump. That way I shouldn't have to worry about the return or boiling out the fuel cap if there is a ball valve on the top of the tank.

Mine feeds into the front tank filler neck and I have a electric pump to help fill the tank. Trouble is when I did my filler neck mods the check value in the breather vent was taken out. If I don't shut my value off the tank will overflow big time. I'm interested in the 'other methods' memtioned, I'm listening because I have forgotten before to close the value and I don't like feeding the pavement my diesel.
