From a fellow X owner who tries to squeeze all of the MPG he can..........you are doing great! I have found that 60-65mph is the sweet spot. I have managed 22 mpg a couple of times when I feel like going that slow. I recently returned from a 3500 mile road trip, Denver to WI and MI, sightseeing, visiting relatives, etc and than home, I averaged a hand calculated 19.6 mpg for the trip. I kept my speed in the 68-69 mph range most of the time. I did one fill up across NE and CO at 75 mph, 18.5 mpg at the higher speeds.

My truck is stock except for a Hypertech tuner. When I have the funds I will ditch it in favor of a DP. I think a 4" exhaust and 6637 mod might help a little with the mileage too. I'm also running highway tires, stock size.

With my 4.10 gears if I drive 55 mph I can pretty easily get 18-18.5 mpg and have gotten 19.5.It does best in 80E if I'm in the foot hills or mountains and stay above 47 mph it will seldom downshift to 3rd
If I kick it up to 65 mph which is actually 69 point something and takes me above 2000 RPM it will drop to 17.5

I have to baby it to get that kind of mileage. If I drive "normal" I loose a little bit of MPG.

I baby mine too,I ust got back from a trip and averaged 17.5, I went to a performance shop today and the guy is trying to put a bully dog gt in my truck. I still might although i sure would like to have a DP, bu the price of a DP and a gauge pillar is about twice as much as the GT

Got 21 mpg (actually 20.99) on my last fill up - 700 miles of mostly interstate. Average mph was about 60. I'm running dino oil this time around so some thinner synthetic should help out a bit. Also could put a few more pounds of air in the tires; think I'm about 10 pounds below max. Will have to try for 23 mpg (my "world record" is 22) next time.

Mileage is hand-calculated, of course. The lie-o-meter said I was getting 30.5 mpg.

I'm the opposite - me driving I got 17mpg+ on a 1,000 mile roadtrip through mountains, rain, & heavy winds. Tracie might get 14mpg on a REALLY GOOD day.

Latest test was 688 miles - got 21.86 mpg - Ft Benning, GA, to Ft Polk, LA. Hand calculated. Lie-o-meter had been at 32.0 when I was on the interstate, but did some highway driving and it dropped down to 31.4.

That's with the cruise set at 55 mph (I was in no hurry to get there), 80 lbs (max) in the Michelins, synthetic in the engine and differentials.

I think 22 mpg is about the max with my current setup. If so, I should be able to get just over 1,000 miles on a tank of diesel.
