"engine fail safe mode"

Anyone had this happen on a Freestyle yet? It only happens while my wife drives (of course). She pulls over shuts off and restarts the car and poof back to normal. I am just wondering what the fix is.

Found out the ETB is gunky and needs to be cleaned. Sources say you should do it every oil change. Not sure if this was intended to be part of the routine maint. though.
