Question Suspension Trouble?

On my way to work this morning, I drove through a slight dip in the road. I heard a loud pop on the front driver side. There was an immediate noticeable lean to that side. As I drove the rest of the way, the truck seemed to bounce alot more, almost a floating motion. After arriving at work I inspected the driver side and compared it to the passenger side. The front wheel clearance is considerably different. The front driver side wheel well is only clearing the tire by a few inches, about 6"-8" lower than the passenger side. Any thoughts on what may have gave out? My truck is a 1998 F150 4x4 supercab.

You broke a torsion bar. It is best to replace both of them at the same time.
