Best F250 yr.

All things considered, power, mileage, noise, and especially reliability, which year(s) the 2000's is the best engine?
Thanks!

Welcome to FTE joedc1. Everyone has a different year they particularly prefer. I liked the body style of my old 95 and my current truck has the most feared engine to own in a vehicle. 2000 would be an all around decent year to own. Understanding a vehicle along with good maintenance will make your experience differ, used vehicles are a gamble but armed with information will help you in your decision.

Thanks Max. Totally agree on the maintenance component. I only posed the question because I had heard that the engine designs varied a bit over the last dozen yrs or so and some were problematic. ...But I'm sure you primarily hear about the rare bad cases instead of the thousands of great engine experiences.

The engine designs are changing at a rapid rate to keep up with EPA regulations. The current design is the Ford produced 6.7L. Many like me do not care for all the computer component's in an engine but I keep informed and move on. A mouse can wreak havoc on a system with just a few bites...

Thanks for the 2001 recommendations! I guess it's not a big deal, but I'm partial to the saddle leather of the King Ranch and I don't think they came around until 2003.

You can look at the pictures in my album to see what you can do to cure your issues with the King Ranch leather.

6.9IDI-good (basic, easy maintenance)

7.3IDI-bad (cavitation)

7.3PSD-good (all around best choice)

6.0PSD-bad (i wont even get into it...)

6.4PSD-good (once you remove the DPF and all that crap)

6.7Ford-bad (no manual option)
